Norway = No way.

30 Oct

Norway, we are not creatively brain dead. Still there isn´t much international success for any Norwegian cultural contrition. Why is that? Perhaps this song can answer that question.

We have a problem with ambitions and we have a problem with finding real innovating talent and then supporting them international. TO be honest, I don´t think we wish people success, especially internationally.

We have a lackluster ability to disagree with any new thinking, and everything is rigid and bureaucratic. And so this happens:

It has happened before.

but the song that became famous was:

Although this example is abit more iffy as Trine Rein did not write that song, as was the case with Donkey boy and Ambitions, but we really thought that Trine Rein would breakthrough internationally with this song. But no…

So let´s see the few times we have had success abroad. A-ha and Aqua. They have one thing in common, they are by most international standards a “one hit wonder“.

Why is that?

I don´t know, but I have an idea (“hush! Be quiet!”). The first time they succeeded it was luck (as most breakthroughs) but afterward they needed support by PR and Norway have no clue how to make anything stick abroad. A-ha made their breakthrough song Take On Me, and then they were for all intents and purposes forgotten abroad.

So does anyone remember their second song?

Probably not… it has it´s commercial appeal (although not as great as their first song) and that´s when Norwegian ambitions should have stricken. Let´s help these guy by hyping them, giving them financial and moral support. But Norway was just waiting for them to fail so they could come back to the cold north in shame. Then we could have a confirmation that there is no need to try. We are bound to fail. Let´s not have any ambitions, those are bad for you. And so then there are hundred thousand changes, but everything stays the same.

The same goes for Aqua, and they aren´t even really Norwegian (only the female singer is), but do to our lack of recognitions from other things we needed to make Aqua Norwegian. Because we have a little problem…

Those fucking swedes again!

They know of promotion!

They know of production and success!

ABBA, Ace of Base, Roxette, The Sounds, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Knife, Robyn, Millencolin, The Cardigans, Günther and the Sunshine Girls, Rednex. The list is endless. And that´s only musically…. In other cultural arenas they have: Stellan Skarsgård, Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo, Ingmar Bergman, Stieg Larsson (the most overrated, over-hyped author in resent years, which goes to show and prove my point.) etc. etc. etc. The Swedes may be spineless and decadent, but they sure knows how to pat each other on the back (be that for their international successes or handing over Jews to Nazis)

Has anyone heard of Morten Abel? Famous Norwegian popsinger with hits like Lydia, Be My Lover, Doberman, Tulipz, and... ehm... Birmingham Ho. He also had hits with the band The September When, especially Bullet me and She cries like a baby. No? But Abba you know of?

Soo… The Norwegians become… not jealous, but… sad? We wish every country (even those fucking swedes) to succeed, but many of us also want´s to make something of ourselves (No this is not contradiction, it’s a paradox about the human condition. We wish people well, but not better than ourself. We wish people to succeed but only before they do). AND WE HAVE ALL THE MONEY! But we keep holding eachother down. Telling ourselves that the good children keep quiet. But no art is made in silence… or at least no art worth noticing;)

No man´s an island“, the saying goes and although we want to believe that we can make it on our own, most times it´s the support of others that has made people a success. Support gives people faith and belief in oneself, but when a culture is based on a belief that only state and city hall should change things then the people of that culture stagnate and rotten, with the consequence of low self esteem, depression and low moral (a great place to make art, if only we believed in ourselves enough to bother).

So that´s my opinion about why Norway is as unimportant culturally as anything else. Our lack of ambitions. The lack of ambitions I would suggest is caused by our political system that only gives credit to 1. dimensional “good guys” who talk the talk of the biggest political party.

But that is a subject for another time.

Blog 2.0 ´´wow, you seem to know alot about the fading ambitions of a culture. It´s like you were the genesis of that Ambitions song.´

Trance-dance-techno-whatever (part 0.8)

19 Oct

Hmmm…. You know what? There is another great aspect of the dance music gengre and that is that it is very wholesome. It´s one of the few music types that hasn´t been corrupted. In short it doesn´t sell out on sex. Take this little number for instance… Il Caesar – Calma

This was pure Norwegian innocence. Like Sound of Music without the nasty Nazis.

Then we have this little church number; Pafferndorf – Crazy Sexy Marvelous . Sort of reminds me of Sunday School for adults.

The harder we come, the rougher you go“, that is the essence of the christian work ethic. By looking at this video you know they know their scriptures. Pure Christendom through and true We´ve made a few changes. We´re crazy, sexy, marvelous now! Join us!

Another example of innocence is this one. Ding Ding song… Could it be more child like? Pure naivete.

But hey, no Benny?” Benny made lot´s of aesthetic videos about sugar, spice and everything nice. Well, you´re right. Here is Benny with his existential question: “Who´s your daddy?“. All men wonder about that one. Especially in these liberal days;)

I really like the cough… Nice touch:)

So if you want a break from the decadence of the Gaga artists of the world, you should join us in the Trance-dance-techno-whatever world. Here it´s Disney day everyday. Squirrels resting on our shoulders and birds flying around our heads (I think it´s a swallow).

Blog 2.0 - *Cough, cough* Is your daddy, he´ll give it to you!

PS: “But hey you haven´t posted part 0.6 yet. WHY HAVEN´T YOU POSTED PART 0.6!!! TELL ME!“, you may ask.

Relax. It´s coming. Coming real soon.

Please hire me. I know what graphical matching in editing means.

So as ya’ll know…

I’m a a man with dying ambitions of world domination and film making. I want to make the Hollywood remake of Dallas while working on the script for the greatest slasher film from this side of the millennium (script halfway written already).

So it’s the times to write my CV online so that anyone who would want to could hire me:)

These videos have been posted on YOUTUBE.COM. They aren’t high budget, contains very little nudity and violence with few if any SFX.

The first gem I’d like to share is called The Raven. It’s all about me (me, me, me) experimenting with background, contrast and symbolism. In other words I did this in-between surfing for porn. The sound is horrible in this video, and that is with reason. The low sound from this Grand Guignol symbolise the American soldiers in Afghanistan fighting for us and we don’t pay our tributes to them. It’s also a protest against patriarchy since the low sound can also be a muffled woman in pain. This last interpretation is of course arbitrary, but I think you could see it if you wanted to.

After watching this sublime pearl you should perhaps take a brake to digest the powerful impressions I have given you. This especially since my next piece is just as mind blowing as the first.. I call it Ludvig Nessa – without the robe and collar and it is my most popular video on youtube. It was made as a collaboration with some friends of mine with completely different political and world view. This to make a neutral depiction of a sensitive area of humane humanity; Abortion and the cost of being against the majority.

Now that was dynamite! This next one you probably should take another brake or at least a Valium as it’s even more mind blowing and EXTREME than my two first videos. I call this masterpiece Rock and Cigarettes and it’s another collaboration with two almost as talented strong and powerful individuals like myself. Almost!

Anyway the video is about a Dutch artist called Paula Mall and her love of smoking inspired by the rockumentary and Cinéma vérité from the 50-60’s.

Now “comment pourrait-on perfectionner ce qui a été perfectionné?“, you might ask. Is there anyway you can top what has already been shown? Of course I can… Here’s my next éclat; Nature vs Culture- Part 1: Nature.

There probably will be a part 2 and part 3 in the future. But there has to be a pause between my work as too many mind-blowing masterpieces of great existential depth can destroy societies, solve world hunger, tear down leaders or create wonderful feelings of loss, void and meaninglessness. I`ve made works that was so powerful in their expression they had to be removed from youtube. I am of course talking about NoMeansNo – Mondo Nihilissimo 2000 (unofficial music video)

Yeah, it´s banned. I am a rebel! Take that society. Now where is my spray can and bat?

So in conclusion… Oh yeah!

Blog 2.0 -If you're wondering why `When all I wanted from life was to be Famous I have tried for so long, it's all gone wrong.´ AMC will tell you why

On Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize (“I can see your Halo, Halo, Halooo-oo-oo”)

9 Oct

Remember, remember the 9 of October 2009 (later it will be referred too as “10/9” to make it more significant and timeless). That’s the day Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Norwegians are ambivalent too this, as many are against it and some are for it (also called a democracy).
Why this could happen?“, you may ask. Let me try to explain the whole thing from a Norwegian perspective.

Norway has an inferiority complex, since the swedes bullied us when we were younger. We also have this growing feeling, that infest the entire country and entire culture, that we do not deserve to have it this good. So you can add a self-loading to the inferiority complex. We feel that we somehow owe the rest of the world something, but all we have are money that are pumped up from the sea, so we spend it abroad hoping that other nations will recognize us as kind and generous to ease our inferiority and self-loading. This never happens, or it doesn’t happen enough, so we need to get the rest of the worlds attention by doing something new and nice.

The “new and nice” this month is given President Obama the peace price knowing well that he hasn’t really done anything. At least nothing to do with “peace”. He has of course been braking a race barrier (or something like that) and he has charm and he seems new and nice but he isn’t all that!

To my understanding, Obama has been a disappointment to USA as the “changes” he was talking about didn’t happen over night as everybody thought. He didn’t stop the wars, he didn’t realise all the prisoners from Guantanamo Bay Naval Base and he seems to scare many with is new healthcare system (you have nothing to fear USA, it works for Norway. Although not the exact same system.)

There is also another side of this award. The person who had the honor of giving the reward was a man named Jagland, and he was (or is) a member of the Norwegian left (Labour party) and as the swedes once said; Norway is the last communist country. What that means here is that being a labour party man (never done a days labour in his life, mind you! [citation needed]) he knows that as a leader he must lead and leading means he “has to make unpopular decisions” (the slogan of the party, 2nd only too “ignorance is strength”).

Thirdly, and lastly, as I have said the Norwegians self-loading is great and thus we all look forward to having PRESIDENT OBAMA coming to us and saying stuff like “What a great country” (ahh!), “lovely nature” (ahh!), “Peace loving people” (oh, ahh!) etc. while we jack-off to his praises. This will be an important day for us, many kids will not cut them self that day, and suicide rate will decline. So in many ways; Obama showing up, alone, will be a reason to earn that price.

So now you know (another side of it) and you may use this information as you please. I would just like to add that I do not think this award was wrong, but perhaps a little bit (reads; alot) early. I do not think that Obama is a bad president (I feel calm as he talks). I do not think that Norway has showed carelessness to the Nobel price (as the swedes soon will say) and that we should loose the price to another country (i.e. Sweden). I do however think that Jagland should resign, and that Norway (and other countries if they have an opinion) should have a serious debate as to where this award is going and where we want it to go. Obama, Al Gore and many other prices this past 10-15 years have really been “unpopular decisions”, and has made a mockery of an important event.

(NB: inferiority complex, self-loading and the Norwegian Labour Party being the new Ingsoc is of course satire. But like all satire, there probably is some truth in it. The comment on suicide and self-harm are all true, though)

«Anti-Jewism» (Kings without their crowns)

28 Sep

I like telling stories from my past, they makes me feel experienced. So let me tell you about some of my teenage friends. You see, I had some friends when I was younger, that I rarely talk to now. They were alright friends and we had many interesting conversations and many other things in common. We liked much of the same music, the same movies, and the same youth culture. They started drinking before I did, and every Monday at school, almost like a ritual, stories where shared over the table of what had happened that weekend. The stories where always the same and they contained one or more of the following elements;

  1. they had been drinking,

  2. They had been going to town, and

  3. they had gotten laid and/or been
in a fight and/or been arrested.

Yes, it was a dull teenage life. The fascinating part of these stories where not that they where in a fight, or that they got laid, or even been arrested. Anyone can do that, but that it was never their fault! Thinking back on those stories, there where never a time where they said that the fight were avoidable, or that it was somehow their fault that something bad happened. The stories where constructed as if they were the unfortunate hero, standing in a bar, minding their own business when
suddenly misfortune struck.

I don’t see myself as a sceptical person, and so I accepted their stories as the truth. To comment on the regularities of their fighting would have been to start a conflict, and nothing good would come out of that. But one day, perhaps the forth time they shared another fighting «Viking» story, or perhaps many years later it dawned on me, how odd it really was that someone could be hated as much as they, without having done anything wrong. I myself, have been out on the town many a time, and can never say I have been in any real fight. There has been some rough housing, some threats and some events involving me being kicked out of a bar or a disco. But I have never been hit, or hurt by anyone, and I have never had to resort to violence either.

This bring me to the problem of anti-Semitism. When we study the history of anti-Semitism, it would seem that the Jews has had the same misfortune as my teenage friends. They have always been hated, they have always ended up with problems, and it has never been their fault. The first historical event that I know of was written in the bible. (Richard Dawking would probably say that it didn’t happen, but I will use it anyway). It is written in Book of Exodus that the Jews had become slaves for a pharaoh in Egypt. Being a slave, to my understanding, is not good. Moses allied himself with God to free the slaves and so the Jews were freed. Then they got into a fight with God. In Book of Numbers «The people murmur against God and are punished by fire» (wikipedia.org) and then there was this long walk in the desert. Also a hard time for the Jews.

And so the story goes on. Jumping forwards to the time of the New Testament, the Jews were oppressed by the Romans. They needed someone like Moses to kick some Roman ass, but they got a hippie instead that preached about tolerance, love and not complaining. This made them angry, and the rest is history.

But it gets worse for the Jews, because although they were oppressed and hated for being Gods people until now, when the Christians got into power they also got killed a lot. When the Jews where living under the Roman Empire they were, until the rebellion in Judea in AD 66, generally protected. But Claudius expelled the Jews "Because the Jews at Rome caused continuous disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus he [Claudius] expelled them from the city" (more wiki knowledge). «During the Middle Ages in Europe there was persecution against Jews in many places, with blood libels, expulsions, forced conversions and massacres» (even more wiki knowledge).

And so the story goes on and on and on and on and on and on. They were hated in the Seventeenth century, the Eighteenth century, the Nineteenth century and of course the Twentieth century were the holocaust was the most famous event. But I could also mention how Martin Luther (the guy who established the Christian protestant church) wrote an entire book on how bad the Jews were in which he called «On the Jews and Their Lies» and then there were the Spanish inquisition who probably didn’t like them either (but I don’t know, I am really getting tired of this history lesson).

In sum, one might say that the Jewish history is a history of persecution, life-threatening events, lies and blood. But what I don’t understand, and the reason for writing this blog entry is to ask the question; WHY? Why is it that these people have been hated so much, and WHY has it been claimed that a new wave of anti-Semitism is growing. Would it be too provocative to not just accept these facts, and be appalled? I am not appalled. In fact I have this growing feeling that tells me I myself are starting to dislike the Jewish people. I am sorry, I know it’s wrong, but sometimes I get so tired of them.

Here are the reasons why I am starting to dislike the Jews.

1)I don’t know any Jews.

All I know of them are rumours and media portrayals. The only relevant image I get of them are through the Israeli conflicts.

2)The word «anti-Semitism».

It might be ironic, but I get a growing anti-Semitic feeling because of the word «anti-Semitic». Why does the jews have their own word for racism? It provokes me, when Jews claim they are experiencing a growing anti-Semitism in the western world. It’s like I get this impression that the Jews are so «special» that when they are hated, they are not just hated because of their race but because of something else. Something unspecified that sets racism towards them apart from anti-islam, or anti-negro or anti-latino or anti-gringo or anti-whatever.

As I said earlier I don’t know any Jews, but when I see them in the media they are either grieving about
the holocaust, demanding rights because of the holocaust or complaining about growing anti-Semitism in the western world. And if anyone, says anything other than positive words toward their action, it is not because they are doing something that might need to be discussed, but because of intolerance and anti-Semitism. It feels like they have a God given right to do anything they want.

An example of this was a little diplomatic occurrence between Norway and Israel. Norway, a
relativly peace loving country, was to take control over «Task Force Holocaust», but according to Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld of Israel, Norway was «a barbaric and unintelligent people», and went further by saying, «Norway has been in front against Israel and show clear signs of Anti-Semitism». Yes, I can feel the love grow, and also we have that annoying word again!

4) The Gaza incident .

Oh, no you don't!

Oh, no you don't!

Although it’s probably a complicated conflict, the Jews did not come out of that well. Especially in Norway, where the media was very clear whose side they were on. It wasn’t anti-Semitic, but it was anti-Israeli.
Although that distinction have become blurred. This dislike towards the Jews that I am experiencing is NOT a violent hatred. I don’t want to harm them, or spit on them or do anything wrong towards them. I just want to plead to the Jewish community to stop being bitchy, to not be so closed to others, and not be such a cliché.

We live in a Politically Correct society (I know that too is also a cliché, but it doesn’t make it a lie) where the victims should never be questioned. If a child is hit by a drunk driver the person who did it should be blamed. There is no question about that. But if the child was walking along in the dark at 23, wearing nothing but black and no reflector, shouldn’t also the parents be to blame? There might be, one may say, a reason for some happening to take place. That the victim could have done something in another way, and not gotten into that particular fight, rape, war, death, accident. But seeing the history of the jews, and how long they have been hated, perhaps they should take a look within them self, and wonder; «Could it be something we have done? Could it be something we have said?». Whatever conclusion they may come up with, it would be a healthy journey for everyone. For as long as they wonder they won’t plunder the Palestines.

In conclusion, I would like to say that if the Jews want me to be on their side, I won’t demand much. All I would see and hear is a culture that thrives and prosper without walking over other peoples right to thrive and prosper. To not complain about something that they perhaps could do something about them selfs and not be such a fucking cliché!

This is a "Don't be a cliché" entry. About individuals in a group working hard to confirm our prejudice.
